By Train
You can reach Bibione by train in less than two hours. Keep in mind that there is no train station in Bibione itself so you will have to travel to one of the closest train stations – either Portogruaro if you’re arriving from the west or Latisana if you’re arriving from the east.
From Latisana, you can continue your journey onwards to Bibione by bus. Buses run frequently from Latisana but check the schedule before you depart to be safe.

By Car

When to Go to Bibione
As Bibione is a beachfront town, the most popular time of year to go is during the warmer summer months, from May to September, when you can swim and play at the beach. However, keep in mind that this time of the year is also the most expensive when the costs of flights, hotels, and car hire rise with the high season.
Travelling to Bibione in September is, in our opinion, the best time as the temperatures are still warm (averages in the early twenties rather than late twenties as in the high season) with less rainfall, but the accommodation will be much cheaper than during the peak season.

1. Hit the Beach with the Whole Family
Home to one of Italy’s largest beaches, it’s no surprise that Bibione Spiaggia is a popular European beach destination. The beach is divided into 4 ‘beaches’:
- Lido Dei Pini
- Bibione Di Spiaggia

Along the eight-kilometre stretch of Blue Flag beach, reaching as wide as 400 meters in some places, you will find Wi-Fi and eager beach service with no shortage of sun beds and beach umbrellas.

There are plenty of outdoorsy things to do in Bibione with free family-friendly workshops, sports, and games held on the beach from Monday to Saturday, as well as beach volleyball, spinning, salsa, yoga sessions, and aqua gym classes in the sea.

Fun fact: Bibione is Italy’s first smoke-free beach. There are more than 40 designated smoking areas along the enormous stretch of beach, but you won’t be able to smell smoke anywhere along the actual beach area.
2. Practice Your Bargaining Skills at the Market
Bibione is well known for its excellent markets with something available close by just about every day of the week. The town’s local flea market, the Bibione Market, is held in the district of Spiaggia on Tuesday mornings in Piazza Mercato in the summer and Piazza Keplero in the winter.
You’ll find absolutely anything and everything you could think of here, from fresh food to furniture, and the prices are much cheaper than at the supermarket. It’s definitely worth spending a few hours at this market, so polish up your bartering skills beforehand!
The Bibione Fish Market (Mercato del Pesce) is another atmospheric market to visit in Bibione on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Pick up some fresh seafood, or just head there to experience the age-old traditions of the Italian fishermen. It’s open daily during the summer months.
3. Soak in the Bibione Thermal Baths
Bibione Thermae is an oceanfront hot water spa that’s revered for its amazing therapeutic properties. In fact, it’s so well known for its healing qualities that many treatments are now available under the National Health Service for Italian residents!
These mineral-rich baths and pools are one of the most exciting things to do in Bibione whether you visit in summer or winter. Open all year round, there are hot baths as warm as 52°C (125°F) perfect for long, lazy soaks as well as cooler mud baths, whirlpool sessions, massages, and thermal hydrotherapy treatments. There are even healing treatments designed specifically for expectant moms and children.
5. Get Out in Nature
Set on both the ocean coastline and a sheltered lagoon, Bibione is the ideal place to get outside and explore the great outdoors. Surrounded by endless open stretches of greenery, pine, and oak forests as well as naturally protected parks, it’s a nature lover’s paradise.
The two areas of Bibione’s lagoon, Valgrande, and Vallesina, have been dubbed ‘local heritage walking sites’ where you can admire the incredible fauna and flora on foot, bike, horseback, or kayak. Combined, these natural areas make up about 475 hectares that spread across 320 picturesque waterways and ponds, dense forests, and farmland.
Keep an eye out for a variety of wildlife and birds as you explore the green pastures or along the banks of the canals. The protected area is home to flocks of flamingos, deer, wild horses, and wild boars. Bring some bread along as feeding the ducks on the ponds is one of the best things to do in Bibione with kids.
5. Indulge Your Inner Foodie
Tuck into some good old-fashioned Italian at Bibione’s authentic trattorias and an array of restaurants, with superb garden or sea views. Run by the locals, most of the restaurants serve the classics, from seafood to homemade Italian pizza and pasta, all cooked with only the freshest ingredients.
Known as the ‘white asparagus capital of Italy’, you’ll find this seasonal veggie enhancing a variety of dishes in Bibione, from salads and risotto to meat dishes during the springtime. Fish and seafood are big here, with oily ‘blue fish’ such as mackerel, sardines, and needlefish being the centrepiece of most fish dishes.
And you can’t wash down a delicious Italian meal without some fine wine to go with it. Bibione’s Lison-Pramaggiore regional wines include Merlot, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Verduzzo, Pinot Bianco, and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, so you’re bound to taste a few during your stay. Bibione is gastronomy at its very best – don’t forget the gelato!
