Where to stay in Split, Croatia - The Best Areas

13th February 2020

Situated on the Adriatic Sea in the region of Dalmatia, Split is the second-largest city in Croatia, after the capital Zagreb.

The city has a long and fascinating history, being founded as a Greek colony around the 3rd century BC. A testimony of its history is Diocletian’s Palace, built for the Roman emperor Diocletian. Located in the heart of the Old Town, the palace was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This and the fact that it was used as a filming location for the HBO series Game of Thrones makes it a major touristic attraction.

With its history, beautiful beaches, and the nearby Adriatic islands of Hvar, Vis, and Brac, Split is a destination you will want to consider for your next summer vacation. We are here to help with the planning by giving you some tips on where to stay in Split, for every taste and budget.

It doesn’t get more comfortable and scenic than this. You can stroll along the Roman stone alleys inside the massive Diocletian Palace and experience living like the Romans – but in the 21st century.

It only takes about 10 minutes to walk from one side to the other of the Old Town. If you are asking anyone where to stay in Split, the Old Town would probably be the answer!
