Taipei is a delightful mixture of old and new–the bustling city has successfully preserved its roots and traditional culture all while keeping up with modernization. What’s more, you can easily book flights from Hong Kong to Taipei

The following are some places to visit when you’re in Taipei:

1. Taipei 101

Perhaps, one of the most famous and iconic architectural marvels in Taipei is the building Taipei 101. It is a tall work of art with an impressive and aesthetically pleasing structure. It has 91 floors in total. Back in 2004, it was an architectural feat and was considered the tallest building in the world.

In recent times, you will see Taipei 101 as distinct in Taiwan’s skyline. Tourists are allowed to go to the 91st floor’s observatory to see a magnificent view of the city.

2. National Taiwan Museum

The National Taiwan Museum holds the heritage of Taiwan’s cultural history. Here, you can find a lot of items, such as artifacts and artwork, which exhibit Taiwan’s shared history with China.

The National Taiwan Museum also tells the story of Taiwan during the Second World War, as it hosts artifacts that have been recovered from the Japanese after the world war. If you want to learn more about the country’s past, a good place to start is to visit the National Taiwan Museum.

3. National Palace Museum

The National Palace Museum is different from the National Taiwan Museum in that it holds more artifacts and is even more impressive. It’s been said that the National Palace Museum is home to artifacts that are highly important to Chinese civilization.

During the Chinese Civil War, many artifacts were shipped from China to Taiwan, and these pieces are now installed in the National Palace Museum. One of the most important ones is the Chinese scroll, which has been in existence for hundreds of years. There is also a cabbage-shaped jade, as well as a meat-shaped stone.

4. Yangmingshan National Park

This national park lets you get intimate with nature and appreciate a view that is distinctly Asian. At the Yangmingshan National Park, you get to see monuments and buildings with ancient architecture interposed with greenery and flowers that are local to Taiwan.

If you want to go hiking or if you want to have a bit of exercise by walking, you can go to this national park, appreciate its environs, and enjoy a breath of fresh air.

5. Shilin And Shida Night Markets

Taiwan has bustling commerce, and this is no more obvious than in Shilin and Shida Night Markets. There are many things to enjoy in both these places. If you want to have a food adventure, there are countless food stalls that offer the most scrumptious Taiwanese snacks.

You can have your fill of exotic flavors that you only get to experience when you’re in Taipei. These markets are also a great place to shop for apparel and accessories. Moreover, these markets are close to famous universities, so there is an active nightlife as well in these hotspots.

6. Yehliu And Shifen

If you have the time, you can get to an interesting nature spot–Yehliu Geopark in New Taipei City. It has interesting rock formations formed along a seaside scape, and waterfalls that will surely be a delight to see. This park is only a two-hour drive from Taipei.

Shifen, on the other hand, is a place where you can do something traditional. This is where you can set free a sky lantern while making a wish. You can also see that the villages in Shifen have a traditional architecture, which gives the place a unique charm and ambiance.
