5 Best Natural Waterslides to Visit in the USA

9th February 2022

Already thinking about what to do with your kids next summer? Do your kids love visiting water parks? Natural waterslides are a great way to keep kids engaged in the outdoors without spending so much money on water park tickets. If you’re looking to travel for the summer while visiting a natural waterslide, here is a guide to the best five in the country.

1. Tenaya Creek Waterslide

The first waterslide we have is a very long one, measuring one hundred feet from start to finish. It is located in Yosemite National Park, only a short two-mile hike from the road, so you don’t have to worry about the kids complaining about the walk.

This natural waterslide is very fun, but keep in mind that you need to stay safe by following standard safety procedures displayed on signs. If you or one of your kids end up with any minor injuries after an expedition, you can contact an online pediatrician to assess the situation quickly.

2. Sliding Rock

This one is located in the mountains of North Carolina and drops you into a plunge pool at the bottom. Be prepared to get cold with this waterslide, as the water usually stays pretty cold during the summer.

Parking is sometimes limited, so make sure you get there early in the day to get a good spot near the slide! Sliding Rock is an excellent choice for the kids, and it is free to use for most of the year.

Make sure you check for any high water warnings before starting your trip to the mountains!

3. Denny Creek

Out of the options so far, this one is the gentlest, so if you have young kids, you would want to bring them here.

There is an easily accessible waterslide area that also offers impressive views of the nature surrounding the area. Denny Creek is in North Bend, WA, so make sure to check it out with the kids on your next summer vacation!

The park also has some great trails if your children get bored with the swimming area. Just make sure to bring water and snacks if you decide to go for a hike!

4. Triangle Lake Rock Slide

Triangle Lake Rock Slide

Triangle Lake Rock Slide, located in Oregon, is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a better variety of things to do to keep the kids busy for a more extended period.

This park provides public restrooms, a natural waterslide, and an overhang that plunges into a deep pool for the kids to enjoy.

The swimming area is surprisingly big, but make sure you get there early because the parking lot fills up quickly during the summer!

5. White Oak Canyon

The last natural waterslide on the list is in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. It is a good choice if you have some teenagers in the house who will not be satisfied with slow-moving rock slides.

While the incline does not look very steep, you will be zooming down the slide in no time! There are also some lovely trails to hike if your kids want to warm up after swimming in the cold water.

Now that you know which natural waterslides are the best, which one will you try first? You have your pick of excellent parks across the United States.

Start planning your next summer trip with the kids now, and plan to enjoy all that nature has to offer at minimal to no cost all summer long! Your kids will love these fun destinations, no matter what age they are.
