7 Reasons Why Bali Should Be Your Next Romantic Escape
We live in extremely busy times and it comes as no surprise that couples can start to live past each other and become disconnected. Few things can reconnect a couple like a romantic getaway. Believe it or not, a little luxury doesn’t have to break the bank!
The Indonesian island Bali is a romantic destination like no other, offering couple travellers star treatment and unique experiences at affordable prices. There are many wonderful things to do in Bali, but here are seven reasons why Bali should be your next romantic escape.
1. Unforgettable Dining Experiences
Dining at the Birds Nest in Kupu Kupu Barong Villas
You might not remember every meal you share together as a couple throughout your life but you will certainly remember the romantic dining experiences you had in Bali. Two of these unique dining experiences are in scenic and serene Ubud. They are:
The Birds Nest in Kupu Kupu Barong Villas is a secluded nest-like structure located among the trees where a table for two is set up beautifully with floral decorations. The treetop view of the river down below is especially romantic during sunset.
The romantic dinner at Jannata Resort & Spa is set up with candles and flowers on a seemingly floating section of the pool with stunning rainforest views of Ubud. It’s hard not to feel like a King and Queen in this unbelievably beautiful setting.
2. Romantic Accommodations
Jannata Resort and Spa infinity pool
Jannata Resort & Spa
There are many romantic accommodation options for couples in Bali. One of these is the brand new Jannata Resort and Spa. Their romantic dining experience, as mentioned before, is just one of the many features of the hotel that makes it a wonderfully romantic accommodation. Other features include four-poster beds with soft drapery, stunning views from the bedrooms and bathrooms, plus an infinity pool that is simply stunning.
Relaxing Astagina Hotel’s pool
Astagina Hotel
Another hotel that offers something more for romantics is Astagina Hotel in Legian. The hotel has many four poster pool beds next to a round pool bar – a wonderful place to relax after a day of exploring. At night, you can cuddle up on bean bags and enjoy a movie outdoors or dine at one of the tables set for two next to another pool with a small waterfall.
3. Outdoor Spa Experiences
The massage beds of Hotel Tjampuhan Spa are next to a river.
What is better than a spa? An outdoor spa with a view! Best of all, in Bali, choosing an outdoor spa with a view doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Hotel Tjampuhan Spa offers couples a unique massage experience outside in the fresh air and within natural surroundings. You will hear the birds sing and the stream flow peacefully down its path while you get pampered into a state of utter contentment and relaxation.
Just a short walk from the massage beds, are fantastically detailed hot and cold spring water pools where you can wind down even further with your partner. This work of art is truly a sight to behold!
4. Mountain Views
Relax at the natural hot springs of Toya Devasya
Sunrises can be just as romantic as sunsets, which is definitely the case when it comes to taking in the majestic views of Bali’s Mt Batur Volcano at sunrise. Energetic couples may enjoy the longer trekking tours (anything from 4 hours or more) but thanks to a new tour offered by Expedition Bali, the less fit couples among us don’t have to miss out! The hiking part of their tour is only an hour long and the rest of the tour comprises of thrilling 4×4 rides over craters and relaxing at the natural hot springs of Toya Devasya.
5. Scenic Landmarks
Scenic Pura Ulun Danu Bratan Temple.
The Balinese temples Pura Ulun Danu Bratan and Tanah Lot are must-visit attractions, each one very different from the other! Pura Ulun Danu Temple has a misty mystery about it and the mountain views are absolutely breathtaking, whereas Tanah Lot temple is only accessible by walking through water (depending on what time of day you choose to visit). The experiences you will share visiting these interesting attractions as a couple will certainly become some of the best memories of your life together.
6. VIP Treatment
Sipping on a drink or two in a beach pergola at Murami Restaurant which is situated on Gili Air.
The luxury of being chauffeured to wonderful places for the whole day at only US $50
Imagine being driven around like a VIP all day long to romantic locations, restaurants and activities while relaxing at the back of the car with your beloved. In comparison to other countries, it’s very affordable to do so in Bali. Another reason this is a luxury is the driving conditions in Bali, it can be very stressful to tourists who aren’t used to the roads and traffic can be awful. Why not leave it to the experts like Bintang Bali Tour Packages, they also happen to be excellent at recommending the best local food spots for cheaper meals. Getting recommendations such as these from locals will save you money and allow you to enjoy more of the many romantic activities on the island.
Swing at Saparis Bar on Gili Air island
Full-day island hopping on a private glass-bottom boat for only US $100
A BlueWater Express speedboat can take you from mainland Bali to Gili Trawangan (the largest of the three Gili Islands) in just 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will step into a marketplace where you can book private island hopping and snorkelling tours with glass-bottom boats for around US $100. All of the small islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air) have unique, romantic seating options for couples. These include hammocks and beach pergola’s where you can sit back and relax at the white-sand beaches while watching the ocean show off its beautiful shades of mints and turquoises.
There’s no other transport on the islands apart from horse drawn carriages and bicycles but exploring by foot or cycling is so much fun especially if you love beach, bar or restaurant hopping. For example, my husband and I discovered a swing at Saparis Bar on Gili Air island which we wouldn’t have found if we didn’t travel by foot.
7. Magical Sunsets and Swings for Two
Swings at Hotel Ombak Sunset on Gili Trawangan island
There’s just something about playground swings that brings out the child within. That joyful, free feeling of the air flowing through your hair as you swing is more magical and fun when the person next to you is your beloved. You won’t have to search far in Bali or the Gili islands to find a set of romantic swings and best of all – they usually come with unobstructed views of picture-perfect sunsets. Hotel Ombak Sunset which is located on Gili Trawangan offers more than one set of picturesque swings in the water which helps to cut the waiting time shorter people queue to enjoy them at sunset. Usually, around that time, professional photographers are there to capture these memories for you. The photographs are available to purchase afterwards at reasonable prices.
I’m hoping by reading this post you would have discovered that Bali is well worth being your next destination for a romantic escape.

Hi, Michelle! I agree that a travel would rekindle the relationship of a couple. I and my partner love Bali because of sceneries that refreshes the eye. Also, we love the pool and the spas. It releases the stress and resets our body. It’s like being on a honeymoon once again. hahaha. I wish I can visit Bali often because it’s so magical like in the movies. Cheers!

YAASS! We’ve been to Bali once and apart from the awesome view and gourmet dishes, we also love the people too. We’ve been accommodated like VIPs and they are really hospitable.
